Watercolor Practice – Inspired by Ruth Asawa
March 9, 2026
3 to 5:30 pm
Join us for our Watercolor Practice series. Each week we’ll study and copy renowned artists to build your watercolor skills in color, technique and composition—then use what you’ve learned to create art that reflects your own style.
This week our featured artist is: Ruth Asawa.
Ruth Asawa (1926–2013) was a Japanese-American artist best known for her innovative wire sculptures, though she also worked extensively in drawing and printmaking. Born in California, she developed her artistic skills despite facing internment during World War II. Her delicate line work and organic forms demonstrate a unique approach to capturing three-dimensional space on paper.
