Join us for our Watercolor Practice series. Each week we’ll study and copy renowned artists to build your watercolor skills in color, technique and composition—then use what you’ve learned to create art that reflects your own style.
This week our featured artist is: Elizabeth Blackwell.
Elizabeth Blackwell (1699–1758) was an English botanical illustrator who created detailed watercolor paintings of medicinal plants. Her most famous work, “A Curious Herbal,” was illustrated, engraved and hand-painted by herself. It’s 500 pages.

Bring your own watercolor supplies—paints of your choice, a sketchbook, brushes, and watercolor paper. Working with your own materials helps you build confidence and continue painting at home.
Don’t have supplies yet? No problem. We have a few donated watercolor palettes, brushes, and paper available for use. Let me know ahead of time if you need supplies and I’ll have them ready for you.
