Watercolor Practice: Japanese ukiyo-e – Inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige

3:00 to 5:30 pm

Join us for our Watercolor Practice series. Each week we’ll study and copy renowned artists to build your watercolor skills in color, technique and composition—then use what you’ve learned to create art that reflects your own style.

This week our featured artist is: Utagawa Hiroshige.

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print artist renowned for his atmospheric landscapes and scenes of everyday travel. His series The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō and One Hundred Famous Views of Edo captured weather, light, and season with striking simplicity.
